Jeannie Goodwin, MA, LPC

Monroe Office

Jeannie brings with her 30 years experience in the fields of rehabilitation and counseling. She received a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Amberton University in Garland, Texas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Studies from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LA #3033) registered in the state of Louisiana.

Jeannie provides individual and group therapy to adult clients dealing with depression, anxiety, self-esteem or self-concept problems, anger, grief, loss, trauma, and difficult life adjustments. She has special clinical interest in clients struggling with chronic mental illness, self-harm behaviors, mood-dependent behaviors and personality disorders presenting with intense dysregulation of emotion, behavior, cognition, and sense of self.

She approaches therapy with a collaborative spirit and strives to provide an atmosphere of trust and safety. She embraces the belief that each client is unique and provides therapeutic services with respect to the client’s values, life experiences, environment, knowledge, and autonomy. Therapy is approached with an integration of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and exposure therapy, as well as exploration of formative events and how these early events have a continuing influence in the present. Goals in therapy include identifying faulty core beliefs, challenging old patterns of thoughts and behaviors, recognizing conflicting needs, better understanding self-defeating or self-limiting patterns, analyzing factors that hinder efforts and motivation, using problem solving strategies, building new and more effective coping skills, formulating alternative responses in line with personal values and goals, and increasing development of and confidence on inner wisdom.

Jeannie grew up in Ruston, Louisiana and attended Louisiana Tech University before moving away from the area. She lived in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dallas, Texas, and Charleston, South Carolina before returning to her Louisiana roots.
