Whitney Foster provides therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families with diverse backgrounds and issues. Ms. Foster is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LA # 4738) registered in the state of Louisiana. She approaches therapy from a systemic perspective, meaning that she focuses on the interactions and relationship patterns among all parts of the client's system (family, school, work, social, etc).

Ms. Foster works with individuals, couples, and families to navigate difficult circumstances and the emotional burdens that often accompany them. Ms. Foster believes in strengthening oneself to be an integral part of the counseling process and works to restore hope, purpose, and opportunity to relationships and life itself.

Ms. Foster has gained much experience treating young children and adolescents in different contexts; working clinically with young children struggling with depression, anxiety, separation anxiety, children of divorced families, school behavior problems, and authority concerns. Play therapy techniques are utilized to create an enjoyable experience, which elevates and brightens children's spirits and outlook on the therapeutic experience.

Ms. Foster believes that play is fun, and it can expand self-expression while stimulating creative thinking, regulating emotions, and boosting self-esteem and ego. She believes play therapy techniques can relieve children's resistance to therapy and create a life changing experience grounded in learning crucial skills which are necessary to thrive and succeed in life.

Ms. Foster graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

The Marriage and Family Therapy programs at ULM are dually accredited by the Council of Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) and the Council for the Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
