Our Mission

Family Solutions started the Pups for Patriots initiative in the spring of 2024 after having conferred with medical and administrative personnel within regional Veteran’s Administration offices. With their kind counsel and encouragement, they helped us to understand the benefits that a “Battle Buddy” brings to a veteran. Helping us to recognize that having the daily, loyal companionship and unconditional love of a puppy can often do far more to help a veteran than medications. As we began to talk with veterans about the Pups for Patriots program, that thinking was unanimous.

Pups for Patriots aims to provide service dogs to veterans within our communities. We’re also esteemed to partner with local breeders and animal shelters as well as trainers, such as Curly’s Top Dog, to match the needs of both dogs and veterans alike. We are proud to be a small part of helping bring joy and comfort to those who have done so much for all of us. It is indeed an honor to show honor to these brave men and women.

Jamie Y. & Julie

“She is the sweetest dog ever. Thank you for saving my life, and other veterans’.”

Todd F. & Cypress

"From day one, Aspen seemed to know exactly why he was now a part of our family. You can't help but feel better when you are with him, not only because he is so cute, but he is attentive to those around him… Every veteran that could benefit from a dog should be able to obtain one. We are thankful that Pups for Patriots gave us the opportunity."

Selecting a Veteran

We are dedicated to providing service dogs to veterans who can benefit the most from their companionship. Our selection process begins with an application where veterans provide information about their service history, current living situation, and specific needs. After selecting potential candidates, our goal is to develop relationships with each veteran to ensure we understand the unique circumstances of each veteran and can match them with a service dog that will best support their needs. Additionally, we consider the compatibility between the veteran and the dog to ensure a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship. Our goal is to honor and assist those who have served our country by providing them with a loyal and loving companion.

Selecting a Dog

Selecting the right dog for our Pups for Patriots program is a meticulous process. We partner with local breeders, animal shelters, animal rescues, and trainers to identify dogs that have the temperament and characteristics suitable for service work. Each dog undergoes an evaluation to assess their health, behavior, and ability to be trained as a service dog. We look for dogs that are calm, obedient, and eager to please. Once selected, the dogs receive training to prepare them for their role as a service dog. Our trainers work diligently to ensure that each dog is well-prepared to meet the basic needs of their future veteran companion.
